![]() ![]() It is no where near the intensity of passing an idiot with their high beams stuck on. I can still see the silhouette of my car as I approach it at night. They are brighter than stock halogens, but are not blinding. Doing your own test by driving past your car in the oncoming lane is the only good way to see if you have it right or not. While the lightsmay look the same, the optics are different to accomidate HID vs halogen. It still maintains a defined edge where the focus of the housings is made to place light. Yes the STI are HID and the WRX are halogen. I haven't noticed the bulb shape from stock to HID to make much difference in it's light dispersion at all. The HIDs effectively increased light output everywhere equally. You get refraction and artifacts with stock bulbs as well as HID's, they are just not as prominent with stocks because they are so dim. I acknowledge the controversy of HIDs in reflector housings, however, I've been running them for just over a year now and I have not ever been flashed. When I drove my dads 2017 CRV touring, I was amazed by the headlights and more about how it reflected the road signs like :speed limit, work zone, yield etc. The stock headlights are very, very dim and aimed too low. LED vs HID headlights Ive been doing some research with upgrading from OEM halogen bulbs for my 2008 Camry se which uses an H11 bulb for the projector style low beam headlight. HID headlights may be a quick option if you are running on a tight budget, however, a better alternative are LEDs. There is usually a decent amount of traffic that shares the street which makes using high beams a poor choice. I needed more light output in my low beams as my drive home consists of dark, hill laden country roads. I baked the headlights open and painted the chrome housings black like some other members have done which adds a nice cosmetic touch as well as helps to control excess glare. I've got an HID kit in my 09 reflector housings.
